A Far Cry

My series depicts the unstable and ambivalent balance between
what you are supposed to be, what you can be and what you
want to be from a male- socialized perspective.
Fragile masculinity causes violence of men towards women,
towards other men and directed at the aggressor himself. I put
my focus on the two latter points of male violence.
An excursion between fantasies of omnipotence and
experiences of powerlessness – between competition and
dominance, victory because of homogeneity and the surplus
(dividend) based on the systemic patriarchy. The carousel of the
performative male identity.
I examine the failure on one’s self to abate the normative
construct of masculinity. The goal is to find a healthy way to deal
with the issues at hand in the interest of all.
Failure should never result in a final life-renouncing decision.
Everything may be, everything has potential.
